This was a multiple fatality trucking case, in which attorney John Patton stepped out of his usual defense role and instead argued on behalf of the Plaintiffs at a First Court Private Jury Trial. Mr. Patton's role as "Plaintiff Attorney" was to argue that the defendant negligently hired and retained this particular truck driver.
Even though he only was given two weeks to come up to speed on an complicated case, attorney Patton was extremely successful with the jury, convincing the vast majority of these Cook County residents that the defendant was negligent.
